Tanzanite

Believed to have first been discovered in 1967 in Tanzania, this beautiful gem was in fact created millions of years ago by the tectonic shift that created Mount Kilimanjaro and the Great Rift Valley of Tanzania. To this day, Tanzania is the only place in the world where this rare gem is found.

The official gemstone of December and a lovely alternative to sapphires, Tanzanite featured in jewellery tends to be a deep violet blue. Interestingly, Tanzanite is one of very few gems which have trichroism. Meaning that, in different lights or angles, this special gem can display flashes of blue, purple, red, or even yellow

which make this rare gem all the more desirable. Tanzanites are available in a variety of shapes however we especially love to create pieces of jewellery featuring round, pear shape or cushion cut Tanzanites as these cuts really enable the beautiful undertones to shine through.

Each beautiful gemstone used in our jewellery is personally sourced by gemmologist Jason Hirsh who meticulously selects only the finest quality.
