Red Carpet Reimagined
From dragonflies to butterflies, brooches are bringing movement, symbolism and individuality to men’s evening wear. A look at the Hirsh masterpieces leading this refined red-carpet evolution.
Men, Brooches & the Red Carpet
In recent years, men’s red-carpet dressing has embraced jewellery in increasingly expressive ways — and brooches are leading the shift. Worn on the lapel, collar or even in place of a tie, they offer a refined alternative to traditional black-tie styling.
Regé-Jean Page at the BAFTAs
Regé-Jean Page brought this modern approach to the BAFTA Film Awards 2026, wearing a one-of-a-kind Hirsh London Dragonfly Brooch styled by Holly Macnaghten. Pinned neatly in place of a tie on his classic black suit, the natural pink diamond brooch became one of the evening’s most talked-about jewellery moments — a true Hirsh masterpiece worn in a modern, unexpected way.
The Dragonfly: Movement, Light & Detail
Entirely handmade in our Mayfair atelier, the Dragonfly Brooch is set with rare natural pink diamonds and finished with en tremblant movement, allowing the wings to gently tremble as it’s worn. Designed to catch the light with every step, it shows how jewellery can bring softness, movement and personality to men’s tailoring.
Butterflies on the Red Carpet
Butterflies are another enduring motif in fine jewellery, symbolising hope and new beginnings across cultures. Our Yellow Diamond Butterfly Brooch, created in 18K yellow gold and platinum, centres on a GIA-certified fancy intense yellow diamond, with tremblant wings set with yellow, orange, cognac and white diamonds — a bold yet elegant statement piece for evening wear.
A Vintage Hirsh Dragonfly
Insects have long inspired the Hirsh atelier. One of our most treasured pieces is a vintage Dragonfly Brooch designed by founder Anthony Hirsh in 1996, an award-winning, one-of-a-kind jewel set with diamonds, emeralds, rubies and a central natural yellow diamond, designed to appear alive as it’s worn.
Bespoke & Personal Expression
Beyond finished pieces, brooches also offer extraordinary scope for bespoke design. A recent bespoke Dragonfly Brooch, created with a rare chameleon diamond that shifts from olive green to warm golden yellow, was designed to hold deep personal meaning for its owner — a reminder that brooches are not only decorative, but deeply expressive.
